Meet the Directors

Picture

Peter Rice III
Director

Education:
  • Gettysburg College, BA in Environmental Studies

My first memory of camp was when I was 4 years old.  I remember being on Boys Side and thinking, "I want to sleep in a tent!"  The rest is history, and I grew up loving  every minute of every summer.
After graduating college I felt a strong desire to see a bit more of the world, so I accepted a job farming oysters in New York.  Oyster farming was interesting, but I felt there was more to the world then the Long Island Sound, so I accepted a position as one of the Course Designers/Supervisors for Tough Mudder in NYC, where I designed and built challenging obstacle course races all over the world. Throughout the next 2 1/2 years with Tough Mudder I traveled extensively, all the while making time each summer to return to the place I love most...Echo Hill.  After working for Tough Mudder I spent a year with New York Road Runner, a company that organizes and supports marathons, before returning full-time to be with my family and help run the best camp ever!
