Art Activities
Creativity, innovation, and self-expression are the main objectives of Echo Hill’s arts program. Through a variety of media, campers are able to strengthen existing skills and explore new ones with qualified instructors. Our talented art staff encourage campers to explore their skills in both the visual and performing arts. The art department is run by our Art Director and is supported by trained staff who are passionate about teaching art to children. At Echo Hill, campers develop their sense of originality and self expression through fine arts, as well as performing arts.
Camper's can choose from: Arts & crafts, music, performing arts, dance, and pretty much any creative avenue one can imagine! |
The Adventure Course
One of the popular activities at Echo Hill is our Adventure Course! Campers have the opportunity to set goals and design individual challenges while offering support for the entire group they are with. The Adventure Course offers less challenging low ropes obstacles that build strong group dynamics and invaluable leadership skills as well as high rope challenges that are designed to breakthrough personal barriers. Our adventure instructors from Echo Hill Outdoor School are trained to ensure the emotional and physical safety of each camper.

Nature Activities
Echo Hill is situated on a 350 acre farm that allows campers an abundance of nature activities to chose from. Camper favorites are: scanoeing, swamp mucking and nature hikes! The swamp is widely agreed upon to be one of the most beautiful places on camp. We have two very different areas of the swamp that we use daily for activities:
Swamp Canoeing or “Scanoeing”This area of the swamp is a favorite for nature lovers. Scanoeing on the canals beneath the flowering plants and across the lily pads gives one the feeling of being in a rainforest. Campers walk across the swamp on a wooden boardwalk that was built by the Maryland Corps of Engineers. At the end of the boardwalk they will find 3 canoes to safely navigate and explore the 172 acres of canals and marshes.

Swamp Mucking by the BeachCloser to the beach we have the section of our swamp for our campers that like to get deep in the muck, and get VERY wet and muddy! This activity is known as Swamp Mucking! The campers walk through the mucky and muddy waters which climax in cannonball jumps at the mother muck mud pit. This Swamp Mucking area is a testament to the raucous and youthful spirit our camp harbors summer after summer.

We encourage the campers to keep their eye out for wildlife such as blue herons, eagles, beavers, turtles, deer, ducks, frogs, snakes, songbirds, and freshwater fish.
