We lovingly refer to our accommodations in our boys and girls living areas as a “comfortable rustic” with the children living in 16’ x 16’ platform tents. Each tent can sleep up to 9 people, including your child’s tent counselors. Campers bring their own linens, pillows and blankets to make up their 5 inch mattress on their bunk bed. Children are given a mosquito net which ties to the four corners of their bed and they are tucked in at night. There is no electricity in the tents so we suggest a flashlight and/or a lantern style light. The boys and girls living area each have their own outdoor shower structure complete with hand washing sinks. There is no roof on the structures but plenty of hot water! Toilets are privy style with each living area having 6 individual stalls for privacy.
Your child’s tent counselors are the same staff that instruct and facilitate all activities during the day. Campers often become most comfortable around their tent counselors since they are the ones who ensure that they are happy, safe and healthy throughout their tent life at camp. Tent life helps campers learn respect, mutual care and understanding for others. It also helps campers grow socially and allows for conversations and creative activities to organically arise amongst themselves.
