Not exactly. Life before cell phones wasn't very hard at all. It wasn't as if we were all waiting around for the cell phone to be invented. Life moved on and we moved with it. If we couldn't think of that actor in that movie then we thought a littler harder. If we were lost, we asked for directions. If plans needed changing at the last minute, we had to work around it. But if life is so much easier now because of cell phones, but at the same time wasn't more difficult before they existed... then what was it?
Simply put, life was just...simpler.
There is no questioning it. The world is moving faster than ever before and it appears to only be getting faster. The newest cell phone features allow users to do multiple things at once. That's amazing! It truly is. Cell phones have changed our day-to-day lives making what we do more efficient.
But what about those who were born into this iGeneration. Wouldn't it be nice if they could experience the simpler times that we have experienced? Wouldn't some time away from technology allow them to gain a valuable perspective in the fast-paced world? Perhaps we could go a step further. We could create a place where a group of smart, happy, active, creative individuals all of whom are enjoying the gift of being young are joined together, without cell phones. In this bubble, true relationships are born. Removed are the online pressures and outside media that have such an influence on today’s youth. Respect of an individual’s character is celebrated, and what is perceived as cool and awesome is defined by those inside the group, and never influenced by the outside world. That nostalgic feeling that adults feel when the cell phone is left at home can be felt for the first time by a group of awesome kids...together.
Welcome to summer camp.
